Common Questions PDF Print E-mail

Common Questions and Answers

1. Am I qualified for services? The Clinic started the first few months offering free consultation and medicines to all in need. Special consideration will be given to low-income families, the uninsured, and for those in transition from welfare to work. *Those who have privileges at the Carl Albert Health Facility are encouraged to seek medical care there.

2. What kind of medical treatment will I receive? This clinic provides free consultation and medication for patients who need limited acute care or preventative care. You will be seen by volunteer medical doctors, physician assistants and registered nurse practitioners. This clinic will not provide care for serious emergency conditions. The patient is encouraged to go to the hospital Emergency Room or a private physician if not satisfied with the treatment or if sign/symptoms worsen.

3. Do I have to see a Prayer Counselor or go through the "Healing Connection" to receive medical care? "Sometimes Yes & Sometimes No" No-We hope that you choose to do so simply because of the healing effects that God's word has on us, but his is not a requirement to see the Doctors. Yes-For example, if the Doctor prescribes a anti-depressant drug because you are going through an emotional crisis, grief, loss of work, etc.then the Doctor will recommend that you speak to a Prayer Counselor as part of the therapy.

4. Why so many forms to fill out? Sorry about that! We need information to satisfy the requirements for medical records, liability, confidentiality, writing grants, etc. and just to know how we could best help you!

5. What if I need Lab Work or X-ray done? If needed, arrangements can be made to get your lab work done with other labs or hospitals. You may have to should this expense.

6. Can I call on the Doctor assigned to me outside the Compassion Outreach Center? All our Doctors are just volunteers! Your doctor may be different from month to month. Please do not call them at their office or refer to them as "your doctor" if you go to another hospital.

7. Will the Doctors prescribe narcotics? NO narcotics will be stocked in this clinic.

8. Can I visit the Compassion Outreach Center, even if I am not sick? Sure! We hope that you would enroll in classes, recovery groups, small groups that bring healing to the heart, body, and spirit.

9. When will the other services such as Clothing, Food, etc plan to open? Once we get the free clinic started and running smoothly we will gradually add more services. Currently we are offering a meal and a clothes closet is open on clinic nights. We have also added a optical services.
